Seahawks Sign Matt Flynn

by A.J. Coltrane

The Seahawks signed Green Bay QB Matt Flynn to a 3-year, $26 million dollar deal on Sunday. I’ve been so wrapped up in the NCAA tournament that I didn’t notice until today.

The dollars and length seem about right.

The Whitehurst experiment didn’t work. Maybe Flynn will be a better answer.

I’m willing to consider about anything so that I don’t have to watch Tavaris Jackson.

  1. Yeah, the Seahawks dodged a number of bullets in a short time.

I was hoping Whitehurst would be ok. I’m still not entirely sure that they gave him a “fair shake”.

Flynn looked great in a couple of awesome games, and the last time the Seahawks got a quarterback from Green Bay (Hasselbeck), it worked out pretty well.

I’m crossing my fingers. With the resigning of Lynch, the big outstanding area that needs improvement now is the linebackers.

  2. It appears that despite paying Flynn $26 million, they are still giving Jackson a shot a winning the job. Typical Pete carroll move – it makes no sense. It will be interesting to see how Flynn performs with considerably less talent around him than he had in GB.

  3. I think they’re having an “open competition”.

Which really means that it’s Flynn’s job to lose. He’d have to be terrible to lose it.
