Punt, Punt, Punt, Rinse, Repeat

by A.J. Coltrane

Yeah, I know I’m belaboring the point about Tavaris Jackson, but, as Peter King from SI writes:

Seattle’s possessions at Pittsburgh. They ended with a punt, punt, punt, end of the half, punt, punt, punt, punt, surrendered on downs, punt. Charlie Whitehurst anyone?

Charlie Whitehurst is the better option. He may even prove to have some value. Hopefully the Seahawks go to plan “Charlie” soon.

  1. I decided not to post about how badly the Steelers manhandled the Seahawks. Jackson couldn’t do anything when the Steelers were not pressuring him (they only brought 4 guys for most of the first half) and it seemed like the Hawks entire game plan was to throw short passes since they couldn’t run the ball. I think it is Whitehurst time and time to get rid of Carroll.

  2. I’m willing to give Carroll and the GM another 2-3 years. They pretty much turned over the entire roster, and they’re not done yet.

I was/am pretty disgusted by the Tavaris Jackson signing, but other than that I’ve been ok with what they’re doing.

The offensive line is very young and they need better players at QB and RB.

Maybe by the end of the next offseason I’ll feel differently about Carroll though. If between the draft and free agency we’re still looking at the same guys it would indicate they’re clueless.

However, if, (for example) they use a high pick to draft a running back and pick up Carson Palmer (or equivalent) *and* the line matures some — they would be a decent team.
